These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the AI Student Curriculum Planner ("Service"), an application designed to support HKU undergraduate students in curriculum planning and academic-related enquiries. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
The AI Student Curriculum Planner is intended to support HKU undergraduate students with curriculum planning, course selection, programme requirements, degree and general regulations, syllabus-related enquiries, and other academic planning activities approved by HKU.
You may use the Service solely for lawful and educational purposes related to your study at HKU. You are not permitted to use the Service for unrelated, unauthorized, or unlawful activities. Usage limits may be imposed from time to time.
You are responsible for maintaining the security and confidentiality of your account credentials. You must not share your account information with any other person.
If you suspect any unauthorized access to or use of your account, you should notify HKU immediately by emailing ithelp@hku.hk.
You must not abuse the Service or engage in any conduct that may adversely affect its operation, availability, security, or reputation. Prohibited activities include, but are not limited to:
The AI Student Curriculum Planner generates responses using artificial intelligence technologies and information sources available to the Service. While HKU and Information Technology Services ("ITS") make reasonable efforts to provide accurate and relevant information, no representation or warranty is made regarding the completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability, or timeliness of any response.
Information provided by the Service is for reference and planning purposes only and does not constitute an official academic decision, approval, or advice from HKU.
Users are responsible for independently verifying any information obtained through the Service. In the event of any discrepancy between information provided by the Service and official University regulations, programme requirements, faculty policies, departmental requirements, or published University documentation, the official HKU sources shall prevail.
Responses generated by the Service are produced by artificial intelligence and may occasionally contain inaccuracies, omissions, outdated information, or unintended outputs.
Users should exercise their own judgment and verify important information before relying on it for academic planning, course selection, graduation requirements, or any other academic decision.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, HKU and ITS shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or other loss or damage arising from:

HKU and ITS reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate access to the Service at any time, without prior notice, if any abuse, suspicious activity, violation of these Terms and Conditions, or security concern is detected.
HKU and ITS also reserve the right to modify, enhance, suspend, or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time without prior notice.

The Service may utilize cloud technologies, artificial intelligence models, and related technologies hosted by HKU and/or third-party service providers for the purpose of processing user requests and generating responses. Such technologies may include large language models deployed on HKU infrastructure as well as services provided through approved cloud platforms.
By using the Service, you acknowledge that information submitted to the Service may be processed for the purposes of providing responses, maintaining system security, troubleshooting, monitoring service performance, and improving the Service in accordance with applicable laws, University policies, and operational requirements.
ITS may monitor and analyze usage of the Service for purposes including service improvement, performance monitoring, capacity planning, security management, troubleshooting, reporting, and statistical analysis.
Where possible, information used for statistical and reporting purposes will be aggregated or otherwise handled in accordance with applicable privacy requirements.
Users are responsible for safeguarding personally identifiable information ("PII") and other confidential or sensitive information.

Users are responsible for ensuring that any information they submit to the Service complies with applicable laws, regulations, and University policies.
HKU and ITS reserve the right to amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time.
Any revised Terms and Conditions will become effective upon publication. Continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms and Conditions.
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Hong Kong.
